Diversity and Inclusion

UB Healthcare actively promotes a culture that celebrates and respects differences between individuals. We are committed to inclusivity across all areas of our organisation and in the communities we work. Our core principles are to include, support and empower. We believe that individuals, regardless of their backgrounds, should be encouraged to be their true selves because different perspectives and experiences ultimately result in peak-performing teams and enable individuals to reach their full potential. It also allows us to better understand and empathise with the people we work with.

Our People

Our diverse clinical and operational teams have a wealth of expertise and experience in successfully managing the complexities of the National Framework with colleagues from multiple disciplines and often competing demands from different organisations. A true benefit as we collectively work together to ensure the success of ICS and a more integrated approach to the application and management of CHC.

Uko Umotong

Director & Co-founder

Uko has held various senior commercial leadership positions across financial services, retail, and healthcare. In 2017, Uko led the Patient Flow and Discharge to Assess services on joining an established leading healthcare provider, working with over one

hundred health and care organisations nationally. This work included designing and implementing pioneering Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathways including some innovative ways of working which were subsequently mandated in the Covid-19: Emergency Hospital Discharge Guidance and adopted nationally. Uko led the transformation of the discharge process for numerous organisations and partnerships.

Uko is a strategic leader who always relishes a challenge and is a service design and improvement expert. A real team player, he loves the opportunity to help our health and social care colleagues address an ever-demanding workload and draw upon the full power of service innovation to boost operational delivery and improve outcomes for patients, their families, and the professionals working within the sector.

Harry Bourton

Director & Co-founder

An admirer of the NHS for as long as he can remember, Harry entered the Continuing Healthcare (CHC) sector in 2014. Working with an established healthcare provider, he was responsible for operational delivery and client management.

Having delivered thousands of contracts in his time, Harry brings a wealth of CHC experience. Responsible for delivering millions of pounds worth of savings to CCGs across England and Wales, Harry’s dedication was rewarded by the confidence of his clients – more than trebling the number of contracts held by the company. A keen advocate of IT in the sector, he has also been responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of digital CHC software products that have helped transform CHC delivery.

Melanie Rogers

Clinical Director - (Associate)

An enthusiastic, highly motivated, and clinically credible Director of Nursing with extensive senior management experience in the NHS, having worked as a Director of Nursing and Quality in CCG’s

and as a Deputy Chief Nurse / Deputy Director of Nursing in both Acute and Community Trusts covering portfolios which have included Nursing, Quality, Governance and Continuing Health Care.

Mark Shipman

Associate Director

A registered social worker with over 30 years’ experience working within the public and private sectors, Mark’s career has seen him working across the health and social care fields focused on hospital discharge and Continuing Healthcare.

Mark has worked closely with health and social care colleagues to deliver significant improvements in delayed transfers of care and was the CHC lead for 9 years for the first truly integrated CHC service.

More recently, Mark was CHC lead for a London CCG and has also successfully implemented a hospital discharge grant scheme (one-off Direct Payment).

Mark believes in the positive role that the private sector has to play in supporting the NHS and care sectors, particularly as we navigate and understand what a ‘normal’ post covid world looks like and that efficiencies can be achieved whilst maintaining a client-centred approach.

Our work is fully quality assured at every stage of the process – practice, procedures, and policies. All our staff – clinical and administrative, are regularly supervised and supported to maintain relevant registration and current practice developments with access to both virtual and in-person training with framework led appraisals.
